Michael Clarke celebrates a decade of community connection
More than 500 people came together to celebrate as we marked our tenth anniversary with a vibrant community Block Party, bringing the Carnes Hill precinct to life.
Held in partnership with Liverpool City Council, the event transformed the precinct into a hub of activity, welcoming local families, residents and visitors to celebrate a decade of community impact at the venue.
The milestone reflects the important role venue teams continue to play in supporting active, healthy and connected communities across the Liverpool region.
Community comes together in Carnes Hill
Special guests, including Mayor Ned Mannoun, Deputy Mayor Harle and Craig Lambeth, Head of Recreation and Leisure at Liverpool City Council attended the event and spoke enthusiastically about the future of the Carnes Hill precinct.
The Mayor emphasised the positive contribution our centre has made to the community over the past decade.
Designed to bring people together, the Block Party ran from 10am until 3pm and featured a diverse range of activities for all ages. Games, including mini golf, a basketball competition and a fitness competition lit up the precinct.
Children got stuck into activities – with jumping castles, face painting, balloon animals and a petting zoo to explore.
Families also enjoyed free live entertainment with acoustic singers and a Zumba dance party, while food trucks and a sausage sizzle brought smiles and satisfied guests.
The event also brought a special tenth birthday membership offer, providing community members with a $0 joining fee and ten days free for a limited time.
Celebrating ten years of impact
Alecia Ebersole, our Venue Manager at Michael Clarke Recreation Centre said the event was a wonderful reflection of the strong community spirit that has developed around the venue over the past ten years.
“It was so lovely to watch the precinct come alive with the use of the outdoor spaces. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves and we look forward to hosting another block party in the future.”
